2007-champsMembers of Local 2135 participated in the Liberty Mutual Kickball Tournement, benefiting the Marion County Literacy Council, and the United Way's Childhood Development Services.

After five games of bracket games, the OFR team was undefeated and headed into the finals  with a bye round.  In the final contest, they challenged the team from Brown & Brown whom they had defeated earlier in bracket play with an inspiring final inning rally to take the game 2 - 1 after playing from behind for five innings.

After loosing a power player in the above mentioned game to a hamstring injury, the OFR team fielded three injured players in the final match, but the production and heart from team Fireball proved to much for Brown & Brown as OFR easily defeated them 3 - 1 securing the first place finish and their perfect record.

Entry fees, and t-shirt monies collected for team Fireball were donated to the charities by the Professional Fire Fighters of Ocala.

The next step apparently was to take back any other cooperative offers they had made:  The coordinator for the Firefighter Auction, also intended as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children's Research Hospitals sought out permission to use Ocala Fire Rescue equipment and apparatus for photo shoots that would provide pictures for various media including...

chilis-car-wash1 If you passed by Chili's of Ocala on SR 200 this past weekend, you may have noticed the tell-tale signs (Bikini-clad girls holding signs) of a fund raising car wash.  You might have even noticed that the sign holders were wearing plastic fire helmets, and you might even further have noticed a large red fire truck parked out front.  All of this was there drawing attention for the charity event in the back where the real work was getting done.
